My name is Joe Denison. I'm a thirty-something, married, conservative, Christian, civil libertarian father of four. When questioned concerning my race, I list human. When questioned concerning my ethnicity, I list American. I was born in the United States which makes me a native, but I'm not a Native American. I don't understand that. I was adopted into a completely different family than that of my birth when I was seven days old. I have no claim on the heritage of my adopted family because we are not related by blood. Until March, 2004, I had no knowledge of my biological family's origins so I could not claim their heritage. I thought that specifically suited me as nothing more than American.

I'm older now and understand more about how the world views this sort of thing. I still don't agree with it, but it is of so little importance in the grand scheme of things that I can live with it.

I am older now. I've lost friends to heart attacks, suicide, and automotive misadventures. I have friends and family who have gone to war, and by God's grace they have all come back. I have different views of life and what makes it worth living. I have doubts about many things and hopes for a future of mankind. I'm not so stuck in my ways that I can't change, but that doesn't mean I'll like it.
